Ghanaian-UK based gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, has questioned the motive of Ghana Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, for assigning Dede Ayew’s jersey number to Mohammed Kudus.

While speaking during United showbiz program on UTV, November 23, Sonnie Badu indicated that the number 10 jersey is a significant number that has to be given to a player who has gone through the ranks of the team.

Citing spiritual connotations, he asserted that the player (Dede Ayew) who has that specific jersey must bless it before another player dons it to represent the country.

He praised Kudus for his talent but emphasized the need for him to grow through the ranks of the team. To him, it is not right for Kudus to be given the captaincy since he is very young in the team.

“Mohammed Kudus is a great talent but his time to wear the captain’s ban has not yet come. There are other senior players like Jordan Ayew and others he came to meet in the team who are also performing well in their respective clubs just like him. Kudus has become swollen headed but he needs to grow through the ranks of the team.”

The multiple award-winning gospel artist also promoted his ‘Rhythms Of Africa’ concert which comes off on Friday November 29th, 2024. He encouraged Ghanaians to attend the free event, affirming it will be a memorable evening.
