Former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has been remanded into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven

Former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has been remanded into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven days by the Accra High Court on Friday May 2.

The decision by the court was as a result of a request by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, who alleged that the accused person (Adu-Boahen) attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness in his ongoing criminal trial involving his abuse of office for personal gain.

The defence lawyer for the embattled Adu-Boahen, Samuel Atta Akyea, denied the accusations against his client by questioning the credibility of the allegations, maintaining that his client cannot influence the course of the trial.

Earlier, the Presiding judge Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante postponed the ruling to assess the intelligence report in-camera.

After careful examination of the materials, he ordered Adu-Boahen to be remanded for one week to allow the State ample time to prepare for its witness statements.

Meanwhile, the other two accused persons in the case; Angela Adjei Boateng (Adu-Boahen’s wife) and Mildred Donkor have been granted bail.

Adu-Boahen and the other two accused persons are to reappear before the court on 13th May, 2025 for the trial to continue.

Dr. Ayine also informed the court that Adu-Boahen is been investigated on a different incident that is related to the Ghana Water Company and it could result in additional legal action soon.
